日本でも、中華街では中国の春節（Chinese New Year）に大きなイベントが行われますよね。今回は、アメリカの友人キンバリーさんが送ってくれたレポートを元に、アメリカのChinese New Yearを見ていくことにしましょう！
Yesterday was Chinese New Year so we went downtown to my best friend’s Uncle’s store.「昨日は中国の春節だったので、ダウンタウンにあるベストフレンドのおじさんが経営しているお店に行ったの。」
This is her Uncle (white shirt) setting up firecrackers. Chinese New Year is loud (to chase away the old year).Hey look, you can see me taking the picture. I guess I finally have a picture of me! hahahahaha
「爆竹をセットしている白いシャツの人が彼女のおじさんよ。中国の春節は騒々しいのよ（古い年を追いやるためにね）。見て、ガラス越しに私が写真を撮っているのが見えるでしょ。ようやく自分の写真を撮ったわ。ははは」（

This is the food for the Dragon. Every store hangs this outside.
「これがドラゴンのエサよ。どの店も店の外にこれをぶら下げてるの」
フムフム、たしかにぶら下げてますね、白菜みたいな野菜を！

Here’s Mulan. No, really. Mimi Chan is the model Disney used for Mulan.
「ムーランがここにいるわ。いや、本当よ。ミミ・チャンはディズニー映画にムーラン役で出た女優さんよ」
おっと！女優のMimi Chanも会場に駆けつけたんですね！ちなみに、どうでもいいのですが・・・ミミ・チャンの右上に書いてある”KAROKE”って”KARAOKE”のことなのかなぁ・・・（googleで”Karoke”と検索したら実に7,370,000件ヒットしました^^;;しかもKarokeはカラオケで使う機械のことをも指すそうです）

「ドラゴンをからかっているところ。ムーランがマスクして再登場。んで、頭にいる赤いヘッドホンをした男は、ムーランに出てきた俳優さん。キャプテンなんとかかんとか・・・。」
ドラゴンをからかっているんだって！おいおい、あんまり変なことをしない方がいいぞ！顔なしみたいに暴れだされたら店がつぶれちゃうぞ！！
